Coconut Ice Cream Float

I like to make ice cream at home as well as beer.  Recently, we had a strange occasion to bring the two together.

I dropped a scoop of homemade coconut ice cream into a pint of Oatmeal Stout. The stout has been aging quietly in my beer fridge and it had an amazing nutty chocolate aroma.  After we broke out the coconut ice cream for my wifes birthday cake, a friend at the table demanded and Oatmeal Stout Float.

The experience was pretty good.  I might try it again on a hot day after some good BBQ.
Minimally, I thought I'd post it here just to add to the recipe files.

So here is the recipe for a great coconut ice cream.
You can see some pictures of the float at my blog:
Oatmeal Stout Ice Cream Float

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 cup sugar
1tbsp vanilla extract
1/2 fresh cocount, whirred up in food process to a fine particle size
coconut extract to taste.

Make per order of your ice cream making machine.
Cheers

I have some beef short ribs going on the smoker in an hour or so, they have been marinading in wine and bourbon (along with some various spices and herbs for punch). I dont think I will go through the trouble of making this recipe, however I may go get a rootbeer float down the street when I am done! thanks for the tip bud!

This isn't completely beer related, but as a kid when we lived in Michigan there was a favorite dessert float called a Boston Cooler.  It was vanilla ice cream and Vernor's Ginger Ale.
Living in Missouri now, it's hard to find the Vernor's.  But my daughter did last weekend, when we were floating the Gasconade River in southern Missouri.   Rachelle's daughter brought along some Sailor Jerry's spiced rum.
Yes, oh my, Yes.
Several new names were suggested, none that I can repeat in public.
I like my kids.

My brother owned a small resturant in a really small town and I was the cook at night. the sherriff would come in a few times a week near closing time and I'd make him a beer malt. ice cream, and beer instead of milk. He loved it. Made for some pretty good security at closing time. The fact that he was 6 ft 6 inches and about 260 pds might have been a small deterrent too, but he looooved his beer malts.
