New Guinness Stout
Check it out Guinness is releasing their first new export to the US since it brought over Guinness draught in the 60's. This article states it will be available Apr 24th. The biggest change up seems to be the use of carbanation theres no nitro in this one. Should be interesting, although i wonder if this is some sort of cost cutting measure in disguise.

Thanks for that update.
It sounds interesting. I'll have to seek it out on draft and the bottle.
That's freakin' sweet. I'm really looking foreward to getting my hands on a bottle. I'm glad you posted this.
Looks interesting, and I'm sure that I will try it, but "less creamy" and "fizzier bubbles" are not exactly what I look for when I look for Guinness.

That actually brings up an interesting point about where beer and marketing intersect. Guinness is a brand, not a beer style. When you think of the cream headed product you are thinking of Guinness Draught. But there are actually 4 Guinness products out there, Draught, forgein export, porter and a tropical version (I can't remember what its called). No there will be a fifth. I remember some friends had bought some glass bottled Guinness, the kind with no widgets. Well they asked me to taste it because they thought it was bad. I said it tastes fine to me, but this is Guinness porter. "What??? I thought Guiness was Guinness???" was the reply.
Its like saying "this isn't Sam Adams" because you want a Boston Lager and someone gives you a White Ale.
Like Xerox is a brand, but the product is a copier. (slightly dated, analogy).
Good point, Brewchez...
Admittedly, I have not ever even seen any other Guinness, so it is naturally what I think about when the name comes up.

The problem that Guiness the business suffers from a bit is recognition of these other products.
Because... I bet you have seen these products...you just thought it was "guinness" in some other container format.
So aside from the few people that will read the original article, how many people will even know or look for this "special" edition of Guinness???
I'l be scooping up as many bottles as I can get my grubby hands on......
As for how to spot it, it has a big "250" on the label....and I'm sure most stores will have a disply to help push it out the door, in a 4 pack rack for $15......
