Westy and other delicious beers

So I have never had westy before, and I felt the need to. Si I went on ebay and ordered some up, splitting it with a buddy. The package was 1 westvleteren 12, 1 westvleteren 8, 1 pannepot old fisherman, 1 black albert, and 3 oerbier.

Now i know westy's reputation, thats why I went through the trouble, but has anyone tasted these others? Beer advocate has reviews that rate them pretty high, but some are kind of all over the place as far as recent reviews. Am I going to be floored or disappointed? either way I am pretty psyched.

Never mind my truck idling in the lot across the street from your house.
I will know be sitting on your front steps waiting to intercept any package from UPS, FEDEX, DHL or USPS.
Sorry if I accidentally take the cookies your Aunt Mo sends you every christmas from New Zealand.

I thought of this already, that is why I am having them heli-dropped down my neighbor's chimney- hohoho!

Honestly Dave, I really think it's that good......I'm putting in an order for some more early next year, as I only have 2 left sad

If you want I can post my review from another site.  It reads rather absurd to most people, but it may be my greatest literal work to date.....

And that's not me, sticking a banana in your tailpipe, wearing a mask, holding a blackjack.....

Yeah man, link me up!

Okay, here it is in all it's semi-ridiculousness....I still think it's worth a Pulitzer!  I could probably do a better job now, seeing I know much more about beer than I did when I wrote this; sometime a few years ago....

After working a long shitty day, I was looking forward to a great night. I arrived at my abode, and started to prepare the grill. A perfectly well 1.25lb slab o' cow, joined with my usual steak drink, a fine, chilled, Duvel. Enjoyment was had. I let all settle for a bit, then came the time. The glass was prepared, the bottle was chosen. The cap was abnormaly tight, I figure to help preserve the flavour. The pour produced a smaller than expected, off-white head, but nonetheless, enough. The first whiff, amazing. Such a variety of aromas, I knew I would enjoy my Westvleteren 12. I am still, as I type; this may take a while. Initial appearence is full, with first taste of carmel and raisins. This is without a doubt, the most complex beer I have ever had. A slight essence of hops, and fruit add to the fullness, and richness of this, the greatest beer I have ever had. Bitterness is above mild, but not severe. Sweet and malty, with moderate oak burn. I almost don't believe this is beer. If you have never had an apertif, or after-dinner beer, the feeling of a warm glass is, different. A warm and spicy aftertaste that lingers for what seems to be forever, is a compliment to a glass already full of perfection. I believe this should motivate you to search for your own, if you're lucky enough to find some. I have heard The Monks of The Abbey of St. Sixtus will resume brewing within a few months, so all hope is not lost. I can only imagine how much more full it wil be in a few years, as I have put one away to continue maturation. I also have a few of their Blond ale, the green cap 6, which I will trying on Sunday. I have a couple of concerts Friday and Saturday night, and I like I've stated, I want to be relaxed for this beer. I am going to enjoy the rest of my Westvleteren now. I feel like a King, my true calling.

{begin point and laugh now}  lol

Bravo, Rick, BRAVO!

You mised your calling! You my friend will be getting a sample of every beer which is to be brewed by the Bear Hole Brewing Co, so the review can be displayed at the TLB! I am serious. Now I just need the half million to get it up and running- dont worry though, I asked for it for xmas, and I have a really small tree to allow for a big stack of cash to fit under it. (waits futiously for santa!)

Gracias Sir!  As you can tell, I did it as I enjoyed.  That way, I had instant feedback and full awareness of the experience.  I didn't treat any of my Utopias that way, and I love those almost just as much.  Actually, maybe even same level, different platform maybe.  They are similar, but different in their own ways.....Next year, I'm going the brewery.  Yes, in Belgium.  That's my next vacation.  2 weeks to tour the Trappiste houses in Belgium....sometime in August or September.  I'm already drooling.....that'll be a review worth 2 Pulitzers!!

Didja get the cash?  I only asked Santa for about 10 Gs, and all I got was some reindeer droppings and a lump of coal.  My daughter made out much better than me.  How she made the good list and I made the naughty, I'll never know wink.
