What's your most recent "great beer" find?

If you want to try another saison I'd recommend Collette by Great Divide if its available in your area.  Saison Dupont is supposed to be the beer that all other saisons are measured by but unfortunately I find them to be skunked most of the time because of their green bottles.  Fantome also makes great saisons but they can get a little pricey but I think they're worth trying.  I've never been a big saison fan but they're growing on me.

first of all, im back to brewing again, now have the time again

second, just tried the HEX ourtoberfest from Magic Hat and me likey!

Good to have ya back Brewluva.

I'm not the biggest MH fan but I'll have to seek that beer.

+1 on Saison Dupont being skunky.  I have spent 30 or so bucks over the last few years trying to find a good bottle.  Haven't found one yet.  I guess I never will get to try any until I'm at the brewery, and before you get jealous it's not real likely that I ever will get to go.

Welcome back Brewluva.

We just had a new brewery open up in Salt Lake about a year ago http://epicbrewing.com/.  Some of their beers are just ok, but a couple are really very very good including the Brainless Belgian Blonde, Coppercone Pale and the 825 State Stout.

For my daughters graduation she wanted to go to Disneyland and Universal Hollywood. I never expect much in the way of beer selection when I’ve visited “touristy” locations, but I was pleasantly surprised by Karl Strauss Brewery at Universal Studios.
I’m a hop head, and they have a decent IPA (Tower10), but every Thursday they have cask night and this Thursday was the Big Barrel Double IPA, (my kind of beer) and only $3.50 a pint.
At Disneyland (California Adventure) they have a kiosk with four or five Karl Strauss beers. For $6.75 mind you, but at least it wasn’t the mass produced swill.

Pints of Double IPA  on cask for 3.50?  Sounds like a deal to me.

I know crazy hopped, high alcohol beers seems to be the opposite of what our beer drinking brethren across the pond may deem appropriate for cask serving but dry hopped hop bombs are awesome on cask!  One of my favorites was Loose Cannon IPA.

Trickster IPA from the Black Raven Brewery in Redmond WA.  Hoppy bittering with lots of aroma from dry hopping heavily, but with more of a malty finish than I usually see in IPAs.  This malty finish seems to be becoming a trend in IPAs here in the northwest.  My kind of beer.

Crabnut
I haven't been to Black Raven yet, my sister in law lives on that side of the water. I'll have to stop in next time I'm over there.
Have you tried Hale's O'briens Harvest Ale? It's quite good.

I haven't yet tasted any of Hale's offerings, much less one of their seasonal's.  The Fremont/Ballard area is a bit out of the way for me, so I am missing out.  Will have to make the time.  I ran into the Trickster at JJ Mahony's in Redmond, when I was up there to umpire a couple of baseball games this week.  We just only got there for last call, but it was worth it.  As my officiating seasons switch from Baseball to Basketball, I should be seeing some downtown stuff and will have to make the trek up to the north end of Lake Union.  Something to look forward to.

Tried a Sierra Nevada Tumbler Ale at a downtown bar in Denver this last weekend that was delicious.

Funny thing, I'm drinking one right now, and it is good.

One of my co-workers told me about a new Mac and Jacks CDA (Cascadian Dark Ale). Every place I checked locally, had the same response, “We just emptied the keg of it and we don’t think we are getting anymore”, so yesterday I stopped by the brewery and got 4 growlers. They are on the last keg at the brewery, too.
I like the beer a lot, it has that distinct Mac and Jacks “buttery” yeast profile. I wouldn’t classify it as a typical Black IPA, but more like a hoppy brown. There is no bitterness.
I’m not sure if they are going to re-brew this anytime soon or if it is a new seasonal beer.
Find it while you can.

I stopped by a beer store yesterday and got a 6 pack of stuff.
Victory Prima Pils- way more bitter than I was expecting, but not bad

DAB Dortmund something braurie (something like that)- I think this was supposed to be a "Dortmunder Export" style, which I've never had, so I got it.  Tasted a lot like Heineken or any other Euaropean lager in a green bottle.  maybe if they start using brown bottles so they don't skunk we could tell them apart.

21 amendment hell or high watermelon- wheat beer with watermelon.  surprisingly wasn't bad.  not the greatest, but a lot better than I expected, lol.  American wheat, no cloves.

Brooklyn East India Pale Ale- quite tasty.  not extremely bitter, but nicely hopped.

Boulder Beer Co Hazed and Infused- dry hopped ale, probably the best out of the ones I tried.  Dry hopped with centennial and another hop, good hoppy flavor.

Breckenridge vanilla porter- vanilla was too strong, pretty much ruined it for me.

My freind bought a Lagunitas Brown Shugga, which neither of us liked.  it might have been better if it hadn't had such a high abv. 9.9 %, and made with a lot of brown sugar.

very cool about the Mac and Jacks.  I'm sure it's the same house yeast they are using for the African Amber, because you smell the hops, you just don't taste them.  Their yeast is a hop mojo stealing strain too i'm sure, Ha ha.
I'm having an African Amber now Actually, damn I love this beer.
