Your Favorite Beer
If you were to have just one beer and one beer only, what would you choose?
At this point I'd probably go with Schell's Firebrick. Its a good mid-way beer for all seasons, good flavor, and easy to drink.
Boy, now that's a tough question. If I really had to choose just one, then I'd probably have to say New Belgium Sunshine Wheat.
If I had to choose, I would say, Tuckerman's Pale Ale. Tough call though, there are sooo many good out there! (I'm sure I will be creating one that becomes my favorite in the near future)
That's interesting Brickyard, not many of my New Belgium drinkin buddies (they live in Ft. Collins) prefer the wheat. What do you like about it? Not saying its bad, I like it a lot, just want to see if I am missing something!
For me, it depends on the real question. Just one beer right now, or one beer for the rest of my life?
Rest of my life: guiness extra stout, hands down. I'm irish, and that stuff is our milk.
Its so well balanced and mild, great head retention, wonderful color, smooth as silk, and smells delicious.
Now, if I had to pick one for right now, I would say a Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale.. I love the explosion of flavors in that beer. The milky texture with the ultra-hop punch just about knocks me down.
Great topic, webby. I want to try all the beers you guys suggest!
It seems odd to me that no one has picked any of their own beers yet. I'm a big fan of Guiness, Cutthroat, Sam Adams Cream Stout, 1554, Broken Halo etc., etc. but if could drink just one for the rest of my life it would be my own Chocolate Aztec Stout! Not trying to be egotistical here but it's well tailored to my tastes and is great in the winter, summer, seved warm or cold,
Andrew, being still a newbie, with only one batch (which definately did not turn out as my favorite, but is definately good) I will be creating my favorite, in the near future!
I don't think it is fair to ask what a favorite style of beer is. There are certain fruit beers I love, ambers, and wheat beers. It depends on my mood, the weather, and who makes it.
For wheat beer, I prefer Widmer Hefeweizen. I really like how malty BridgePort Rope Walk is. Last winter McMenamins made a Cherry Stout that I absolutely loved.
So I really don't have a favorite. There are so many variables. I drank TONS of Widmer Hefeweizen over the years and finally burned out on it. I really like it, but I try to diversify as much as I can. I rarely buy sixers anymore.
What else is there. Deschutes makes a killer Cascade Ale. When it's available, I like Big Sky Brewing summer honey ale.
See... I can't just pick one.
I think Smuttynose Brewing in Portsmouth NH makes a really, really nice pale ale 'Shoals Pale Ale" that I was drinking pretty much exclusively before making my own. I'm going to set up a taste test pretty soon against several of my favorite beers.
If I had to make a choice on just one beer, pardon my ego, but I would have to go with the Sunfish Creek Brewery Irish Ale (my beer) but in a pinch a Smithwick's Irish Ale or Killian's will do.
Wow... That is one hell of a question. Huge fan of a Arrogant Bastard/Double Bastard Ale and most of Stone Brewery products. Haven't meet a Hefeweizen I don't like, Though in particular Paulaner Hefeweizen is one of the best I've had. Another great couple are Youngs Double Chocolate Stout and Old Nick. Sam Adams Specialty beers, especially there Winter Pack, are also excellent as is there good ol' Boston Lager. Well thats it for now but I'm sure I will keep trying new ones and find more favorites. Good luck and Happy Drinkin'...
