Beer World Records II

Written By: Emily

I’m back with more beer world records. Let’s begin.

1. Most glass carrying
You are watching a ball game with your friends and you get up to get beer. Your friends want you to bring beer for them too. How many glasses can you carry? Not more than this Australian I bet. Reinhard Wurtz carried 20 stein glasses of beer, each weighing about 2.5kg. So he carried over 50kg of beer in his hands for at least 40 meters. The previous record was of 16 steins and was held by a German guy.

2. Bitterest beer
This record is held by Peter Fowler, who  has a vast experience of brewing beer. He created a beer that was rated at 323 IBU (International Bittering Units), thus setting a new world record. The previous record was held by a beer for 200 IBU. With 323 IBU, that one was left far behind. This bitter beer was tested in two labs and they confirmed that The Hop (as it has been named) is the bitterest than any other beer in the world. For a beer this bitter, it would be a challenge to drink it.

3. Beer mat house
This guy was perhaps inspired by Hansel and Gretel story. Steven Goebel built his own candy house, except that it wasn’t candy- it was beer mats. It is not just a small sand-castle kinda house. It is a 5-room flat with a fireplace, tables and chairs- all built with beer coasters!! But that’s not all- he didn’t use any adhesive to stick together the mats. I wonder how he did it. Anyway, let’s move to the next record.

4. Bartending experience
Who holds the longest bartending experience? It’s Angelo Cammarata, at Cammarata’s café. He served beer for 77 years and finally retired in 2009 when he was 95. He is called Camm by the locals and he started his career serving beer in his father’s grocery store. Ninety-five is a high age to retire, and I’m moved by the guy’s passion for his job. That’s truly commendable.

Alright, so this concludes my beer records list. Thanks for reading!
