Does Size Matter?

Um… I’m talking about beer here- really! In Auckland, we have two sizes of beer- big cans (called tallies) and small ones (called stubbies).

The question popped in my mind when I had to buy some beer, and all they had were tallies. I don’t know if it’s a girl thing, but I like having two stubbies than a tallie. Though it’s the same amount of beer, but I feel like I have drunk two beers instead of one, without having too much of it. Plus when I finish one beer and get up for the other one, it involves some exercise. And then, when I get the other one, I get another ice cold stubbie. If I were drinking a tallie, it would be pretty warm by that time. Just having swigs of beer- one after another is not really a great beer drinking experience. It should involve some activity- like getting up for another beer (?)

I asked my friend Ed, and he said that he prefers drinking a tallie. Maybe it’s a guy thing. Well he’s lazy anyway, so that figures. I asked him if there’s a reason why he likes a tallie. He said that after he has come from work, he feels really thirsty, and wants a tallie instead of the smaller one.

Fair enough, with warm weather and all the humidity, a tallie would be better if you’re really tired. But still, I would like a stubbie. Ed also said that he had a friend who is a beer ‘connoisseur’ and he had all tallies in his fridge. He would keep some beer glasses in the freezer, and then pour the tallie in the frosted glass- that’s the right way to drink beer. To explain me further, he said, “if a guy goes on a date with you, wouldn’t you like if he showed up with a tallie?” (I’d personally prefer if he showed up with flowers, but whatever Eddy, thank you.)

So well, to sum it all up- yes size does matter (strictly talking about beer here guys). You might prefer tall cans, but I like the short ones that allow me to boast that I drank two beers, while I didn’t drink much.
