Bottle Storage
I was thinking of making just a cabinet style box to hold all the 750ml hard shouldered bottles in one "cavity". Not notched for each bottle individually. I don't think I've ever had this many bottles at one time, well 27 bottles.
When I stacked them all up, I find that they slide a lot more than I thought they would. I can imagine the top ones sliding out and smashing all over the floor! And can the bottom bottles handle the weight??
Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated...
thanks

I recently was faced with the same dilemma, what to do with all my upcoming bottles of my new hobby? My wine rack consist of two four foot pieces of plastic lattice form Home Depot. I built a frame 2'X4'X6" wide. Screwed the lattice to both sides of the frame.Wa-la , a upright wine rack that will hold 53 750ml bottles. The only problem was the diagonal holes in the lattice would not accept the bottle diameter. Easily solved with a skill saw. Each hole had to be opened up approx.1/2". It took a while, however, the end results was well worth it.

I use ezcap bottles so I can store them upright.Traditional wine cellars stored them flat slightly off the ground in brick cavities. It was common to have your problem. Lots of bottles all the same. The newfangled criss-cross storage is more so that you can track what bottle is where not just for storage.Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I would advise a small wedge to make sure the bottles will all rest back against the back of the cabinet, otherwise they may well fall out with a bit of vibration. Assuming all the bottles are sealed well and not going to break you should certainly be able to stacl that many, although it sounds like time to install a lattice or just a few diagonal shelves so you don't need to stack more than 3-4 deep.
