Brew for vacation

OK, this may be a stupid question but if there is an answer to this, I figure I will find it here. I recently brewed a batch that turned out really good. I bottled a few and then put the rest in my TAD bottles. Now after finding out that it is better than I expected I want to share some with family and friends and possibly take some on vacation. I carbed with corn sugar. Has anyone ever transferred beer ( don't have a co2 system) from kegs to bottles or bottles to a keg or any other vessel?

Why not just take the TAD?  Or do you have to fly with it, requiring it to be in checked baggage?

You can probably bottle off some of the beer without losing too much carbonation.  I've only done it a couple of times, basically poured from the TAD into a bottle trying to minimize foam, cap on the foam, take to friends place.  You usually end up with a lower bottle fill once the foam has settled and the carbonation isn't quite as good as before.

This may be a stupid question, but what is a TAD bottle?

Tap A Draft... It's another way to bottle beer.

Personally, I have one of those caps that you can hook to CO2 and I put it on a two liter bottle.   I fill the bottle as high as I can off my tapper then gas it to about 10 pounds.  Of course, you could never fly with this but it's nice for weekend trips to the in-law's house.....

No I am driving but was hoping to transfer it to bottles so everyone could grab one when they want at the beach or back at the house. I may just have to brew the recipe again real quick.

Hey, Bull, I'm interested in how you like the Tap-A-Draft. I'm thinking about getting either that or a Party Pig. Also, what was the recipe that turned out so good?

So far I love the TAD system. You still carb with corn sugar but it is nice to only have to fill 5 bottles when you do a five gallon batch. I have had the system for about a year now and the first tap I got went bad after about three months or so ( leaked pressure) . I called Midwest and they exchanged it right away. Bottles fit great on a fridge shelf so there is no need to modify anything. You can take the tap with you if you please to parties and such and they make a carrier/ parka for it if you want one. Co2 cartridges must be food grade so they have to come from your local HBS or somewhere on line but they seem to last a long time. The recipe that turned out really good was the 2008 Spring brew Kolsch.
