Building my kegerator
I have a question to bounce off you guys. I'm building a kegerator from a frige that has the frige on the top and the freezer on the bottom.
If I put the faucets above the top of the kegs they will be way too high. I don't think there is any reason they can't be below the tops of the kegs.
I will have plenty of room for the kegs even with the space being utilized by the faucets. I know I will need to be careful about the kegs bumping into them. I think I have a solution to prevent that.
Is there any other considerations that I'm not thinking of? Any tips/comments?
I think it sounds fine to me.
When I used a standard fridge for my first kegorator my taps were slightly below the tops of the kegs.
No issues.
Take it from a guy who just built a kegerator. When your done, and you take your first beer off tap, it's the best beer you ever had. I had my brother over from Seattle (and no he didn't bring any Mac and Jack's, what an asshole). All he kept saying was. "Dude, this is so friggin awsome, I can't believe it, you have beer on tap right in the kitchen, friggin awsome."
I'm so excited to get this finished. We're waiting for the cold snap here in Detroit to break because we are going to build it out in the garage. We're having a large outdoor party in June and it will be way more convenient for everyone to access the taps outside.
BUT THEN the bad ass kregerator will move inside for MY convenience!! super excited.
It's a kregerator because my last name is Kregel. Yep...I'm that dorky!!! Go ahead and point & laugh...my friends do too. I just can't stop the cheesy!
However, they play along because they all love beer and they know just how awesome it's going to be when we have bon fire parties.
I'm going to post photos of the build and the finished result as soon as I can build it out. COME ON Spring!!!!
I've never had Jack and Mac's. I wonder if we can even get it out here... Now I wana try it.
I can't even tell you how excited I am to have beer on tap in my house! I have it all planned out to be in the most convenient spot! hahaha. So glad the kids are grown...time to get MY toys!!!

Mac & Jack's is great stuff. If you can make it, you can have it.

Probably the longest thread on the board.
If I'm out, I'm either waiting on my primary, or FedEx.
Check this keezer porn out! I just started (with the help of my cabinet building buddy) turning my freezer into a keezer using this build as inspiration. It's beautiful!

Andrew,
I totally have checked that one out before. That's super bad ass. I can't wait to see your finished product! (which means we all expect pics!)
I seriously thought about a keezer but went with the rator due to space considerations and the fact that it'll be big enought to hold all our bottled beer and have a freezer to boot. It just works better for my place.
I so was ooogling the one your making for a long time though. It's beautiful.
I have reason to be hopeful that my kregerator will be built out this weekend. Since tomorrow is my birthday, a couple of super talented guys have volunteered to put it together for me.
Although they know I can and would do it myself they also know that I'm a uber baby and won't work in the garage until it's warm out. That could still be a couple of weeks here in the D and they want it now!!
I promise to post some pics.
