Cap adjustment
I want to ship a few bottles of my brew across the country to the land of Tennessee. I've read up on the shipping thoughts and feel that I have a handle on that part. However, after reading about some of the mishaps, I have a question about caps.
When bottling my last batch, I had a friend helping me with the capping. While I'm fairly sure that the caps are on ok, I'm not 100% sure as I didn't do it myself. To make sure that something doesn't leak in transit, can I take the capper to the bottles again and just give them a little 'tweak'? I don't want to do too much, just enough to ensure that they are truly set. I also only plan on doing this to the ones I will be shipping, not the whole batch.
Any thoughts? Will I run the risk of damaging the caps since they are now under pressure?
Thanks!
If your capper is anything like mine, once it is crimped all the way, the capper can't close anymore. I lkie to crimp once, turn the bottle 90deg, then crimp again, just being a-retent but you know they are on tight. Won't hurt a thing.
Thanks for the response. Figured I would be fine, but would rather not blow up a bottle of homebrew.
Thanks again!
