carb tabs
anyone ever use those carb tabs i bought a pack to try out but when i was reading the pack turns out ill have to put around 6-8 in each 22 oz. bottle
anyway i find that if i prime with sugar my beer is much sweeter than i intend it to be although i don't add oxygen to my wort yet ,but it usually taste more bitter before bottling. anyway to get around this? the only thing i can come up with is to hop more.
I've used them a few times when I was kegging and wanted to pull a few bottles without using priming sugar. They work alright but sometimes tend to leave little floaties in the beer, it doesn't seem to effect the taste. ![]()
My local shop jsut started carrying them, and I bought a package to try out. Will be another week or so. I guess they'd be handy in that you can precisely control your priming. But some may have additives that you may or may not want in your beer.
Usually I prime by dissolving corn sugar in boiling water, letting in cool and then adding it to the beer in the bottling bucket. That way it's mixed uniformly. And regarding the floaties, i've had them happen as well with sugar, and also using DME to prime at it starts a 'mini-kraeuzen' in each bottle. There'll also be floaties from the yeast if you're not careful while pouring.
What kind of sugar are you using to prime when you notice the added sweetness? Some ferment more than others, which might lead to that...just a thought.
