Cheapest source for bottles; label question
I use these bad mambajambas:
Beer Labels
Scroll down about half way to Item #4578.
i agree with deafcone if its a screwtop i dont drink it you'll be surprised how fast you collect up a bunch of bottles.
if i buy i buy the 22 oz.
I found a liquor store close to my work that sells them to me as redemtions, meaning I get 2 cases for about $2.50. It was just the matter of asking them when I went in buy some regular beer. It can be some work, I usually use a brillo pad to get off the glue residue. I've never had a problem with these, seeing as they have to be pretty clean for the store to take them back.
For labels I downloaded wordlabel.com] label design 5. it cost about 20dollars. I use 4"x3.25 rc-6 labels per sheet. it comes 6 labels per sheet, with 100 sheets, it cost $11.50. This way I just print them up, and peel them off 4 sheets makes a case real easy, and quick. I used to print them up, cut them off, and paste them, but this took almost as long as bottling. Even if you don't want to get to creative with the label, it's nice to do labels on your beer, because you get confused with 8 cases lying around the basement. Also, you can print up a few more, and put them on the outside of the case.

These were free and took me about 10 minutes to make. More keg labels than bottle labels really. However, if I was to bottle I'd slap one of these on the back:
Cool beer names skervy. The Ginger meth sounds the best
I buy my bottles one case at a time on payday... don't find cheap ones, but part of my enjoyment of brewing is actually the bottling process.. it's kind of a zen thing for me and it makes me feel good to stand back and admire all the neatly bottled and labeled beer in my storage area (which I have to keep reminding my family is to be called a brewery , not the hall closet)
As far as labels... I use Corel. I used to work in the print industry and that's the graphics software I am most comfortable with.
Sample label: (I change the name, colors of the frame and wings for different beers, include ABV etc on my actual used labels, this is just my graphics show off)

No. I hate the capper and it hates me back.... I use grolsch style bottles
;-)
If I need bottles, I just buy beers that I like. I have found that Warsteiner labels come off very easily so I have a lot of those. And they cap pretty well also. Blue Moon are a pain to cap, and Sam Adams labels suck to get removed. I have a bunch of empty Leinenkugel that I am getting ready to try removing. I hope they work out as well as the Warsteiner.
