fining in a conical fermenter?
I am currently fermenting my first batch of brew in a conical fermenter. I will not be racking to a secondary as I have in the past. Instead, I will be using the conical as a single-stage system. When I racked my beer in previous batches, I would add a packet of knox gelatin mixed with hot, sterile water to the secondary. This method has proven very successful at reducing the sediment in the bottles. Has anyone ever tried fining with gelatin in a conical fermenter?
I use a keg with 3/4" of the dip tube cut off, I use finings in there before transfering to a serving keg. I only do it that way so the re-harvested yeast is not full of extra trub.
