First step towards Kegging!
Hey Everyone,
Score! I just got 4 used ball-lock (pepsi style) corny kegs!!
$105 for all four including shipping!
I got them off ebay and they are guaranteed to work and been only used for Pepsi products or homebrew. They have been pressure tested, but I'll probably end up replacing the o-rings at least.
At least I think I got a good deal...
Hey darren,
I usually change them all once I get a new one, esp if it had soda in it. After that, I haven’t had to change any more and it’s been over a year since I kegged my first beer in a corny. Just use a little keg lube and they should stay good for a while.
Enjoy!!!!
Don't forget to come in and let us know how they worked out! They sound like a pretty good deal. Good luck.
so does it means that we have to purchase only once
or every new batch requires new bottles for brew ?
with kegs, including corny kegs, you only purchase them once and use them over and over again. they just need washed out after each use, and sanitized before refilling. same with glass bottles if you take care of them. the type of bottles that are sold in homebrew supply shops can be reused many times because they are made well and with thicker glass than what commercial beer comes in.
I changed my o-rings all at once (3 kegs after about 3 years), and I'm still getting my ball connector stuck when it sits in the fridge > 1 week. I use the keg lube, but I still have to yank pretty hard on the connector to get it out. Anyone know what causes this?
is it just from the stickiness of the beer itself? i guess what i am wondering is which side gets stuck - the IN or OUT connector?
Sounds like you did... Try looking at Sabco online.. they offer reconditioned corny kegs with new stems and seals... as well as being acid washed.... Very nice... TheJet
Assumng you're connecting the in/out to the right side it sounds like you need to clean the posts better, or switch out your o-rings again. You might have some gunk down under the o-rings.
