How much priming sugar for a Tarwebier kit ?

Hi there!

I'm planning to bottle a Tarwebier Belgian Witbier from a Brewferm kit and the instructions say something about 10 g/L of sugar for priming purposes. I guess it's too much, will my bottles hold such a high pressure?ç

Thanks in advance

Not sure where you are from, but I didnt do the conversion to metric, but here is a calculator to get you started- http://www.tastybrew.com/calculators/priming.html It says for a wit, 2.1-2.6 vols is your target, which is a pretty standard amount. I honestly thought wits were a bit more than that like 3-3.5 vols, but this calculator is normally spot on.

If you are using standard bottles, this is a fine level with no issues. I have put 3.5-4 in a bottle before. Just make damn sure your ferment is complete!

Looks like for a 5 gallon batch, you would need the standard 5oz.

OK, so my brewing chart is telling me 1 oz = 28.4g. And 5 gallons should be about 18L. So I would suggest 5x28.4, or 142g if it is a standard size 18L batch. This puts it at a ratio of about 7.9g/L, so your instructions look like they are pretty accurate. That should give you about 2.8 vols or so.

Thanks!
