Mold in Bottles

I buy my PBW in the larger jar format, not sure how much that is.  3lbs???
Anyhow, some people claim that oxyclean (unscented) is the same stuff and often cheaper.

I learned that the hard way a long time ago.....damn I felt funny, and then I passed out......

My bottle prep process.

I let my bottles soak (moldy or not) in PBW for a few days, then I blast them out with a jet bottle washer attachment on garden hose.
I stack the bottles in a rubbermaid bin, cleaned and sealed ready for use.
When I go to use them I just rinse them in sanitizer and fill.

i use bleach cheap as hell and it kills everything just gotta rinse well

Bleach is great, I just can't stand using all that extra water to rinse.  Makes me paranoid I am not getting all the bleach out.  No rinse sanitizers are great because the bottles have a layer of sanitizer in them right up until filling.

You're lucky you didnt strip your lungs!! Eeek!!

I use a spray attachment on my sink to clean the bottles out. I recheck the day of bottling, respray them all, then soak in sanitizer and fill. No problem. i use the sprayer for the carboys too, I do use a big carboy brush to get hte hard set stuff but. I might break down and get some PBW but not sure.

It felt like I did.........even worse since it was in a confined area too.......

I use bleach. Its cheap and super effective.  Just make sure that you rinse ithe bottles thoroughly and let them dry completely.

I also use bleach.  I find that rinsing is optional.  You might say it adds a clean taste to the beer  ;-)
