to much priming sugar

hi all some advice needed here i bottled a finlandia larger kit about 3 weeks ago  into pet bottels and must have put to much sugar in for priming as the bottles have doubled in size and only look 3/4 full i have released a lot of the presure frome the bottles there is a lot of sediment in them do i bin the lot or are the bottles ok left 3/4 full from wot ive read i must have put at least twice the amount of priming sugar in a mistake i wont be repeating lol thanks . chris

What kind of bottles are you using that they have doubled in size???  Most of us use glass bottles, or maybe some folks use plastic soda like bottles, but neither of these can expand in size due to CO2 pressure.
I am curious.

They should be ok to drink.  I'd chill them down to try and slow down the carb process and drink 'em up quickly.  I suppose that you could still end up with bottle bombs, but with PET this is more messy than a danger should any pop.  I would recommend replacing the bottles for future batches if they have expanded that much.  I don't think that they'll be able to hold pressure next time, and you will probably have bottles that fail even with the proper amount of priming sugar.

One thing to note though, be careful when you open the overcarbed beers.  It'll tend to foam alot, maybe even become a gyeser.

thanks guys they are plastic soda bottles and i will bin them when i empty them i did keep them in a very warm place for the first week another mistake i think thanks again .chris
