Re-using bottles over and over again ok?

Just curious if this is a common practice or not.  Is it okay to just keep reusing the same bottles you brew with time after time??  Basically, it's an issue of laziness...I don't want to keep having to remove labels.  I figure I already did it once, so I salvaged the bottles I used for my first brew in hopes that I can just re-sanitize them again for my second brew, and so forth.

Is this ok to do?

not a problem. Been doing it for years.

I don't even remove the labels anymore...I just put a star or the initials of the type of beer on the cap with a sharpie marker...for example...If I bottle a Heffeweizen, I put HW on the cap, maybe the date bottled...HW 10-11

I got sick of scraping off labels and they still have that sticky residue that's impossible to get off too.

Haha, I delabeled bottles ONCE. Couldn't take it. I am a little OCD and have be contemplating buying a batch of new bottles so I can start fresh, I'll be able to keep nearly all of them.

I re use bottles and occasionally a new (to me) bottle makes it in with the label on it.  My process for washing bottles eliminates the trouble of removing labels.  Old or new they come out the same.  I just soak all of the bottles in a large tub of hot PBW and then go have a beer.  By the time I come back all labels are off and Im ready to go.

I do a hot water soak in a generic oxy-clean I get at the dollar store. Actually, I use it for all my cleaning. I think it works as well as PBW and like me, it's cheap. The labels just slip right off, usually a swipe or two with a scouring pad will remove any left over adhesive. The only ones that don't come off are those with the foil type labels. I think the only thing that will take them off is a torch, but it is not worth the aggravation so if I end up with some of them I just throw them in the recycling. That and a rinse with the jet bottle washer and they are ready to refill.

Only get new ones if you break 'em.
Easy way to label your brews.
Get some of those real small return address labels, compatible with Avery #5367 1/2" x 1-3/4"
Print them, stick on the caps.

thanks for the input, everyone!  I do feel like eventually I'll probably buy some as well, just to save time.  I've been doing it in straight hot water, but the PBW & Oxyclean sound like good ideas.

Good idea for labeling, too...
