Sanitzing Bottle Caps

One thing you might want to watch out for,.
I left some setting for to long after dipping them in sanitizer, I must have left them setting for to long, they started rusting.

Now I put them in a bowl and pour 90 pf vodka over them and let them set till I use them.

But I'm racking on batch to secondary, brewing a batch and bottliing at the same time, so they may set for some time, no rust problems since I started using vodka.

I use to boil the caps for 10 minutes. Now I just soak them in sanitizer for 5. Works great.

I used to boil my caps too until I noticed  the boil was deteriorating/melting the rubber seal on them.  I was probably boiling too hard or for too long but I use Star San now and it works great and takes less time.

The only reason for caps to rust is because they stayed wet.

Just be sure they are dry when you put unused caps away.
