Using Champagne Bottles

I just use the champagne bottles that are the same size top as a normal beer bottle.

The best way to get them is to check out the champagne at the next wedding you are invited to.  Have a cap in your pocket.  Talk to the barkeep, stay until the end of the reception.

I tried corking, not good, I guess it only works with those flared champagne type corks.  You would probably have to buy some kind of special equipment, and the little wire cages.

to cap it with the regular crimp-cap, doesn't the bottle have to have a lip to catch on? most champagne bottles i have seen are smooth lipped, designed for the wire cage to go fit around the lip.

They also have a lip for capping.  I took a couple pics.

Can't seem to copy & paste them.

I know this has been a while, but I bottled a batch of Summer Berry Buzz in champagne bottles.  You have to find the ones with the same diameter as beer bottles.  They vary in height.
