CiderPress Vinoka Kit - First Time Brewer
Hello, I just registered with this forum today and hope to add to the great posts once I've gained some experience.
I began the brewing of the subject cider kit about 8 days ago. Added the kit mix to 5 gals water, added yeast, covered and placed the airlock on the top. Bubbled like crazy (room was around 75F. Stopped bubbling and I moved to a cool room yesterday. Specific Gravity was 1.0. There is no bubbling occurring now.
Instructions for next step say: wait 3 or 4 days and rack into a carboy. then add Potassium Metabisulphite, Potassium Sorbate, Natural Flavor Mix and Sugar. (All provided in the kit except for the sugar.) Refrigerate overnight and the cider is ready for carbonation.
Question: Does this sound correct? Will the sugar and other addditives disperse among the cider? Is carbonation required? And finally, when will this be ready to drink?
