Clearing Cider

I was wondering if anyone has used Inglass to clear up ciders.  I works great on grape wines but I have never used it on a ciders?  I did use Binenite at the start.  But dont know how Inglass might effect it.

I've never made cider, but I'm sure that isinglass will work fine in it.

Just an update I didnt use the Inglass on the Cider.  After i transfered to secondary it was really yeasty tasting and cloudy.  But after it sat for about 2 weeks its crystal clear and with a beautiful golden yellow color.  All i used was the wine additive Binenite.  I know i didn't spell it properly but if you talk to someone that knows what it is they well know.  But it did a great job on clearing fresh pressed cider with out any other additive.  2 more weeks till i bottle my Wasal Cider!!!!.

i am making cider wine right now and when it ready to clear  (done fermenting ) it is useally preety strong by its self then i clear it in my still it runs in cloudy like cider then through still and out as clear as spring water but 100 x deadly spirits around 190 proof  it does burn blue , <  as dry as fish turds in a sand storm > one Iraqi  War  vet told me !!!   it is that dry but smooth as silk , no after taste like corn mash wiskey, pluss  i do drip it into activated charcoal and a coffee filter for purity i used to use an old wool hunting sock but found the charcoal and coffee filter a little cleaner and other people could dare try some but not outa my boot sock filter was a funny thing to see people at the many parties i been to with my portable still . not no more though i just do for my self gave up all store bought booze

How did you make your portable still?  I have been wondering about this and wanted to try it.

well i started with a buddy from kentucky who had in his family a long line of distillers , i learned very much from my friend i don't know it all but enough to make shine that will be the hit at any party i may attend , fist you will need a stainless steel beer keg this keg becomes the cooker, when its tipped over on its side there is a cork /wood bung , this has to come out of keg , 2nd step inside there is a plastic hose tube from one end of keg to other it too has to come out, with keg laying over on its side , i plumbed the side bunghole , from the 1 1/2 inches  down to 3/8 copper line , i found that the plumbing stuff under the wife's kitchen sink was a perfect fit to the bung,,, hardware store had the neccessary things to go from sink drain parts down sized to the 3/8 copper line which is about 12 feet in length i then wrapped the 3/8 line around outside of  a five gallon pail so it looks like a coil of copper line thast coil is then placed inside a container filled with water to act as cooler to turn the steam produced by beer keg over fire to approx 140 to 160 degrees which will let the alcohol leave the mash in a steam tihis steam cools back to a liquid .as its the alcohol we are after from the mash i use apple cider fresh no preserves in it at all i dont even bother killing natural yeast the more the better, i have had a few mistakes along the way but for most part i make a shine that will mow the lawn when dumped into a lawn mower engine it will cut hayfield if you want to push it thru one , as for my recipie  total secret until i have more time on site, i have to be carefull since the county sheriff came to me and asked me not to make any more for anybody so i havn't untill now  i am out of what i had for a stash neded a new batch for family and very close friends  the kegs are easy to find but get one in stainless steel aluminum will melt from heat and just may blow up this is not kids play here this is the real mcoy still design and mash recipie be sure to only use silver solder or un leaded solder or you will make popskull  liquor which will blow your head of and dangerous to your health no lead of any kind  there are many ways to clear cider  this is my way of doing it , after all im after the real harder than hard  apple wiskey  i guess you call it that ? (believe me when i say its the best crotch spreader ever put in a bottel ) all natural no chenicals no hangover either  a nice sipping drink for sure

never met a shine i didn't like, but some i liked better than others !!

Do you use the large commercal kegs or do you use the soda style kegs?  do you do a small 2 1/2 gal or do you go with a full 5 gal boosted to hell with suger and turbo yeast?

i use the 1/2 keg size ONLY STAINLESS STEEL  i used to have full blown wooden 50 gallon barrels they got stolen, from me  3 of them. i now use a regular 1/2 keg, beer keg you would rent but only ,still 5 gallons at a time i  get 3-4 quarts of good ole shine out of that, right now i have 15 gallons of cider fermenting for 6 days,,, bubbling like mad,in air lock , eating sugars and making alcohol soon to be wiskey from wine my dandelion wine came out really well too, at 16 percent alcohol by hydrometer testing yesterday ,that dandee candy wine is 15 years old about to go thru the still this week end , although we now have a new New York State law (no out side burning at all )no garbage ,no brush, no nothing, i live in communist America of central new york where ya cant' even cook a hot dog on a stick , i say to xxxx with all laws rules and im my own law maker as,, god made man (SMITH AND WESSON  MADE US  EQUAL ) never saw a shine i didnt like but i liked some more than others , (if my dog don't like ya niether will i ) HONESTY AT ALL COSTS YES I BOOT THE SUGAR UP AND ADD RASIENS AND A LEMON OR TWO
