New in brewing my cider

Just started brewing my cider kit a day ago ,followed the instructions ,left it by my radiator then left it till the next day. But when I came to look at it the next day there were bits floating on the top I am not sure whether these are bits of sugar or yeast etc (they weren’t green just white if that helps )that have failed to dissolve or whether its mould?. Please help
