Bad poppet bled off CO2?

So, I went to my kegerator yesterday, and noticed that all of my CO2 was gone after just 3.5 kegs (5lb tank).  I couldn't figure out what the problem was, because I couldn't hear any leaks.  I then refilled one of the kegs, and there it was...hissing out of the gas in post.  Sounds like a stuck or bad poppet.  Would this have bled off all of CO2 over time even if it was connected?  If the gas was connected, wouldn't it have just equalized?  I'm just trying to make sure that this was 100% the problem.  I'm guessing just a new poppet should solve it.

A leaky poppet wouldn't cause a problem unless you disconnected the gas in connecter. I'd be looking at post sealing, both to the keg and to the disconnect.

BBB is right but leaky poppets suck especially on the liquid side.  Nothing like serving off of a keg and then you disconnect it to move it and it sprays you in the face.  Ask me how I know.  I still have a stout stain on my kitchen ceiling.

MB, your problem is likely somewhere at a connection point before your keg.  Make a solution of dilute dish soap in a spray bottle and spray all of your connections when a full tank of gas is hooked up.  Check everything where there are pipe or nut threads including the regulator.  If there is a slow leak somewhere the solution will bubble up at that point; you may have more than one leak.  Just tighten down at those spots or replace a gasket if that doesn't help.  I had the same problem once and it turned out to be a loose connection between the regulator and the tank.  I replaced the gasket and tightened it down good.  Problem solved.  Hope this helps.  Cheers!
