Boston area Co2 refills?
I ended up going to Igo's Welding Supply in Watertown and ended up paying $16 to fill my 5# tank.
But, $5 is waaay better. Where is this place?
Wait I do a tank swap at AGA gas on plank street in Billerica and its $12 for the swap. That's pretty good, but $5... I'd make sure there are doing CO2 and not a mix of CO2 and compressed air.
ANd why do they use CO2 for paintball??? Why not just compressed air? Maybe CO2 is more compressable than air so you get more shots per tank???
How soluble is Argon in beer, maybe I can "carbonate" with that???
OOOHHHH maybe neon!!!
OK, sorry it was a long weekend....and not enough beer.
Paintball guns use Co2 because it is more easily accessible and less expensive that compressed air. Some high end paintball guns use compressed air exclusively as it is more stable and more reliable than Co2.
Since I work 9-5pm and almost every place I found closes by 5pm and is not open on weekends, I asked my girlfriend to fill my Co2 tank. She called me and said the guy just took it, went in back, and gave her the tank without telling her what was in it. I contemplated what my beer would taste like carbonated with Argon until I called Igo's and was informed that the style of tank I have can only hold Co2.
I also learned that home brewers consist of a large part of their "home use" business.
Newbie here. I work at a welding supply and see people homebrewing and bars coming in and getting straight CO2. I have never heard of food grade. When getting a bottle filled or exchanged make sure that the place is using a CO2 station and not putting CO2 from a larger bottle into your bottle. If they do use a larger bottle you are only getting about 25% of your bottle filled with Co2. For a 5 pound Co2 exchange we charge $17 for the gas and that is true Co2. Because Co2 stations take awail to prime the lines and we might not have many cust. pre-filling is quick. Also when letting out the remanding Co2 it freezes up and can take hours to get to its true weight to refill that bottle. the end..![]()
Just a quick update on that Wort's club meeting. The next meeting is Wednesday, January 7th in Concord. The directions haven't been placed on the website, but if you're interested shoot me an email and I'll make sure you get them.

Sorry for the late reply, the Store is a new hobby shop in Danvers Mass, On Water street. I have to ask them now if they fill straight co2. I know Williams brewing online, sells a co2 tank that is just a paint ball tank, and they call it a pait ball tank in their catalog. This hobby store sells paintball tanks for 12 dollars all the way up to 50 dollars, but they said they would fill any tank for 5 bucks, which leads me to believe that it is not straight co2, but i'll ask and see.
