Boston MA CHEAP A$$ Corny kegs

A couple years back I found a local soda company that was unloading their corny kegs cheap.
The company was Real City Soda (part of Lenox-Martell) in Jamaica Plain/Boston.

Well I think this ad in Craigslist is them as it seems like the same deal I got mine at.

So if you want some cheapo kegs get 'em here.

Wow that is  steal! A buddy of mine lives out in Chicago and just bought a soda company. (He currently owns a beer system installation and cleaning company) He called me and is shipping 4 or 5 cornies that were laying around. My fee is I have to fill one for him and send it back. Otherwise I would hop on buying a few more at that price- the 100 mile drive is worth it for me.

I just got 4 for $17.50 a piece......shipping was $30 I think.  I wish I saw these first though....The ones I got hold good pressure, and are in pretty good shape, but were also used for soda, and don't have the best cleaning on them.  I think the guy said he wasn't going to bother cleaning them, when he knows most of us would just do it again anyway.....

I am torn right now, because it is such a great deal.
I would like to go buy another 10, but money is tight and I'm am better served spending the money on ingredients.  If I don't have ingredients how am I going to fill the kegs???

More importantly... I still don't have a beer fridge for my kegs anyway!!! (searching craigslist and the budget at the same time)

Hey brother, try out Freecycle Yahoo groups.  They will likely have a specific group for your town.  Since people have to pay to throw away old refrigerators, they are more than willing to just give them away for free to anyone willing to take it away.  I got a stand up freezer and a fridge through this resource.  It's great for those of us who can't afford to pay for anything!  smile

I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the tip!

The local hobby store that I go to for odds and ends has the kegs for 25$.  I havn't gotten any yet, because I don't have anyway to keep them cold except for the basement, the coldest parft of the basement is usually 55F all year round.  I was thinking of just carbing them like a bottle, but I would love to force carb.  Can I force carb at 55F?

When you gonna start banging out the lagers?

I did make a lager, but I did the swamp cooler thing. I just put my bucket in water and kept it at 38F for 2 months.  Rotated out 4, 2 liter bottles ever 2-3 days.  I didn't worry about oxidation in the bucket, because it was in the water.  I'm going to have to do carboys if I want to go 2 months in just the cellar, and I don't feel like doing carboys.
Maybe i'll just do it anyway, and see how it comes out.

And you didn't answer my question man, can I carb at 55F?

Ha ha
