Brewpots
Hello,
I am new to homebrewing, and looking to get a decent sized brewpot to boil up my wort on the stove top. Does anyone know anywhere you can pick up good sized vessel in the US for this purpose?
The best I've found so far is an 11 liter stockpot in a local cookshop. I've read that for a five gallon batch, you should try to boil the wort in at least three gallons, and top up as necessary with boiled water to five gallons. Is it a problem to brew up the wort in less volume than this, and top up with more water? 'Cos I'm having problems finding any containers even approaching that size anywhere.
Alternatively I suppose, is there another way I should be going about things and I've got it all wrong?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi connor,
Ideally you should do what are called "Full-Wort" Boils.
Wort is the unfermented beer before the yeast has done its magic.
Have a look at your local refuse tip or car-boot for a larger pot you vcan use - Or look for a Tea Urn!!!
another place to look would be in your local classifieds.
