Carbonation Stone

Hey just have a quick question regarding carbonation stones.  I was wondering how much they speed up the carbonation process.  I don't own one currently, but they are not overly expensive & last just about forever, from what I have been told.  Just looking for a few personal experiences with them smile

I have one and haven't noticed any great advantage, unless you need a batch carbed in 3-4 days.  Other than that, if you can hook your keg up and wait 7-10 days, no reason for the stone.

I bought one anyways, just so that I would have one for future use.  One question I have with it:  HOw long do they last?  I assume they can be used over & over again, and cleaned/sanitized between batches.  Is this true?

Also, when I dispensed a glass of the Peat-Smoked Porter, the head on it was incredibly thick & lasted until the bottom of the glass...could this be caused by the stone or an effect from something else?

Shouldn't have anything to do with the stone.  Co2 is Co2, the stone just increases the surface area in contact with the beer so you achieve carbonation more quickly.

The stone should last forever if you take care of it, don't ever touch it with your bare hands, and boil it to sanitize it.
