Co2 Quality Questions.

So I just got my new kegerator and it came with this fancy new 5 gallon Co2 Canister. Now I have been looking for places to fill it. I know my local beer distributed will exchange them out. But I my local sportsman shop will fill it along side with there paintball equipment.

So my question being is there a difference between the kinds of Co2 as in food grade and everything else. Would that work for me to fill it there? Are there any other suggestions for places to fill?

Not a paintball expert here, but have heard that some CO2 cartridges have oil in them but I would assume that refill tanks would not.  They would know if this was the case.  As long as there isn't you should be good to go.

I took my new 5 pound aluminum Co2 tank to the local welding supply store where they filled the empty tank with 1.5 pounds of Co2 for $12.00 while I waited. The owner of my LHBS said all his customers have their tanks filled there. As for the paintball tanks and cartridges I would ask the sports store if they add oil to the container or not.

A lot of welding shops will only exchange your tank, they have them filled elsewhere, and mark it up.
They were charging me $20
I found a Fire & Safety Equip. place that re-fills tanks, they do it for around $10, it takes about 5 min.

Hey guys thanks for all the advice. I ended up talking to my home brew shop and he suggested me to go to a fire and safety place to git it filled. It ran me $15 but took a day to do so. Next time I might just get in exchanged because of the speed. but thank you all again for the response.
