CORNY

So lately Ive been thinking I need to get some cornies for storage because well im running low on bottles.. how much does the initial setup cost? I'm thinking about going to the local recycler to get leftover ones from soda so that will def. cut down the cost.  I also dont have a spare fridge but I think i can just keep them in the basement and tap them into grouliers. Also, Im getting sick of my party pig.. 2.5 gallons just isnt enough any more *sigh*.

I've been thinking the same thing and though quite new to the homebewing thing, Im getting tired of cleaning and sanitizing and filling bottles.

For an intital setup including a 5lb aluminum co2 tank, a used 5 gallon corny keg, dual gauge regulator and hosing and connects, Ive seen go for 160-200 dollars at online homebrew stores.  Theres an ebay store that has setups for 153.99.

If you want a system that includes a faucet and shank for a kegerator or a faucet tower I think it would run you another 80 bucks or so.

i've been thinking the same thing last time i was in  my  hbs they were just under $30 apiece for the kegs and gasket kit then you'll need some co2  and hoses.
but just for storage you can prime it in the keg and use the co2 to put it in a growler.
from my experience with growlers they fade fast 2 -3 days in fridge
im sure the beer will be good for 6 months or more in kegs at cellar temps
