Good prices??
So as I plan to go AG with my next batch, I've been trying to find bargain after bargain for the equipment.....how do these sound...???
60qt Stainless for $120 shipped
10gl Gott cooler for $25 + shipping
Also, is Phils Phalse Bottom the best around? I'll pay for it, but if there's a cheaper stainless false out there, brand name doesn't matter to me......
Where did you find a 10 gallon got for $25. I could only find them for >40.
Anyhow, A round beverage cooler isn't necessary. I use a 50Qt cube from igloo, and I use a stainless steel braid for my seperation manifold.
Nothing wrong with the round cooler and false bottom though.
When mashing with a cooler you may want to decide if you are going to fly sparge or batch sparge.....the round coolers are used more in fly sparging and here is a little reading on batch sparging by a homebrew guru if you decide to go that way
http://hbd.org/cascade/dennybrew/
I'm a batch sparger.
Another thing I didn't mention is the Phil's false bottoms are made of plastic and will tend to float......if you want a false bottom I would go with a stainless steel one......if batch sparging there are many different ways to make a manifold for sparging.......just google around......
I can't remember the name of the place, but I think I have it bookmarked on my other computer in the other office. I'll check it after lunch and let you know......
As for which method for sparge, I was thinking fly, but no special reason. Batch sparging does look a bit easier. I'll probably try both. I already have rectangular coolers, so maybe a batch sparge recipe first, save some green for grains.....
I'll be sure to get a stainless bottom....or make one. Google rules, even though I use Yahoo more often by habit......
Crap. I was looking at the wrong product code for the Gott cooler.......the 10 gallon cooler is $48, and the 5 gallon is $24......
The same place has a 50qt rectangular for $42.....
Is there any difference between the Gott orange coolers, and the yellow "drinking water" coolers....the yellow ones are way more money, and they look the same......
They are about the same.....I have the 10 gallon orange coolers.....

I basically copied this guy. I got a 50 qt rectangular Igloo cooler for $16 at Walmart and the cpvc pipe, fittings and brass bulkhead I think ran me another $20 or so. I've went through five batches with it so far and it's working great.

AHHHHHH!!! I am not crazy. I was just about to buy 40 of these $24 dollar 10 gallon coolers and then sell them on EBay for $40 apiece advertised as an $8 dollar discount.

The only difference is that the yellow ones are not orange....They are blue.
