Hop hopper

Been having troubles keeping my pellet hop sludge from clogging the bazooka tube. Whole hops work great pellets not so great. I used to have them in little muslin bags but know that there is flavor loss and not full utilization. I rigged up tgis liitle puppy made from a PVC collar and clamped a 8"x15" nylon grain bag that almost reaches the bottom of the kettle. I figured I could just toss my hops in throughout the boil and get best of both worlds, what do you think?

You can always use a whirlpool when using pellet hops.  Just make a whirlpool and let it spin for a while.  Then draw off the wort.  The hops will stay in a cone on the bottom as you draw the wort off.

Cool device, let us know how it works out for you.  Just don't knock it into the kettle by accident.

I whirlpool and generally don't have an issue.  I used whole hops on my Tripel  a while back and totally blanked on the hop bag.  Clogged my port even with whirlpool.  I never have problems with pellets.

I see you don't have a pick up tube on the keg.  Neither do I.  I still need to rig one up so I am not leaving a gallon or so of wort behind each batch.
