Igloo drink cooler as a mash tun? ("not for hot liquids")

Shopping around online for an Igloo (or similar) drinks cooler as my first mash tun.

I've found the warning "not for hot liquids" with many of the coolers I've found online.

Should I concern myself with this?

Thanks,
JJJ

I've got a Rubbermaid 5-gallon plastic cooler for a mash tun. It used to sort of crackle when I put hot liquid into it, but it holds temperature pretty well. And I don't see any warning against hot liquid on that site.

I tried looking up coolers that specified not using hot liquids in coolers.  The only company I could find that stated that was Igloo.  I think it was the Thermos site that had stainless steel coolers that were specifically safe for hot liquids.  Maybe Igloo is just trying to protect themselves in case, for some reason, the plastic started melting or something.

Ive got a ten gallon Rubbermaid system and it handles the heat just fine..........I think they are just telling you it's a cooler, not a heater.....

Don't listen to these guys.

Send the cooler to my house and I will give it a thorough test run.

Yeah, I'm sure it's ok to use with hot liquids.....as you'll see, lots of people use them......I plan on getting a couple of them soon.....

i have a rubbermaid 10 gal never had a problem
