march pump quik disconects...

I'v ebben drinking.....Im trying to orderr  a march809 pump.  I neded a 1/2'' hose barb on each end I can't figure out which ones to order.  It looks liek I need to order two thing on each side?.....help

wow...it's amazing what some yard work and a big steak dinner can do for sobriety.....I was fairly buzzed earlier.  Anyway, I see different ends on the same looking parts.  What goes on each end, and does something connect to that....?...

Can you post a link to the parts you are mulling over?
I am pretty I sure I understand your question, but a link would help out.

It was over at Morebeer....

Link for the pump...Pump

Link for the connects.....Connects

That's what I thought.

So you'll need to end up with for pieces all together; two male and two female.

Some people put all male peices on their equipment, and all female on the hoses.  But it you purchase 2 sets of complete disconnects that's one barbed and one threaded then you can put a threaded male and female on the pump and the barbed ones on the hoses.

Of course you'll may or may not need disconnects on the non-pump side of the hoses you are using, it depends on whether you want to get connectors to the kettle or not.

Does that make sense? Or even help?

Yeah...makes a little more sense.  Basically, I'll have a hose on each side of the pump.  One from kettle to pump in, and one from pump out back to kettle.  I have the barbs set for the kettle in and out...I'm just confuzzled on how to connect a stupid barb to the pump on each side....So does something screw on to the pump ends, and then a barb quick connects to that, or is there just a barb that screws on?.....

I think I need a female on each end of the pump...then a male qd barb to go between that and the hose itself....does that sound right?.....

Could I simply screw this thing on to each end of the pump?  I don't know how big the pumps ends are.......  I know this is SS, and the pump threads are not, so caution installing them.  I don't plan on removing them anyway, at least not until another upgrade.  Depending on how this current upgrade project works, it may be a while before I improve the setup again....

Actually you are confusing me now.

The best bet is to call Morebeer.  They have great customer service.

The pump threads are 1/2" NPT male. Most QD's are also male. I put 1/2" couplers on each side of the pump, then a female QD (which has a male post if that makes sense) I used the polysulfone ones, you go through O-rings every few brews, but they are not hot to the touch like brass. It is probably a good Idea to also put a ball valve attached before the QD as well depending on your setup. I left it out because I have a ball valve attached to everything else before the pump to control flow.

Last make sure you configure the pump correctly. You want to place it below any vessel you are pumping from, making the pump the lowest point. The inlet should be facing down, and the outlet facing up, this will keep your prime.

This is a closup of mine:

I also plugged mine into a surge strip extension cord, so I can keep it plugged in, and just hit the switch on the cord to fire up the pump.

Ok....I think I have it figured out.....

I'm just confused on what actually connects to the pump itself...  Does something screw on to the end, or in to the end?  The piece I looked at H501A has threads on the outside, and it looks like the pump does too.  So I need a coupler of some sort to switch male to female, then the that H501A piece, then the QD barb it self.....

So I need a coupler of some sort to switch male to female,..

Right. The picture I have posted shows the top coupler as black and the bottom coupler is white. I chose composite to keep the heat down, but they do make stainless NPT couplers you can get at home cheapo also.

Okay, so I got it now......I'm going with a SS coupler on each end H631, then a male qd base and female qd barb set H501T.  That way I can attach any other QD piece on either end of the pump.  I'll have a ball valve in front of the pump at the kettle.  Eventually, I'll pick up another pump and ball valve for more control.....thanks guys...

Edit: Thirsty, it took me a few minutes to notice the color difference on your couplers.  I thought you had a different pump at first, but then I figured it out.  That's what put it together...I didn't see the two obvious colors...I'm guessing you so know how to set it if it ever gets moved....I'll just etch one of the couplers with an arrow or something......

Oh, and I'm stealing your idea of the powerstrip as a power switch mounted to the cart or basen for the pump...
