Mini fridge conversion to kegerator

Just got a mini fridge which I'm planning on converting over to a kegerator, it should be able to fit 2 5 gal kegs in it with the CO2 tank inside as well without issue.  The problem is there is a little freezer section on the top which it taking up just enough space to where the kegs will not fit inside.  I would say I could just remove this little section, it seems removable, and go from there, but there's a hose from the back of the fridge which plugs into a tube coming off of this little shell making the freezer area that I'm not sure about.

Has anyone else run into something similar?  Can you just unplug that hose and let it dangle back there once you remove the little freezer shelf?  There is also a power cord from the thermostat, but that looks like it will unplug easily, I'm more worried about the hose.  Any help would be appreciated.

If no one knows what I'm talking about, I'll take a few photos tonight and post on here so you might be able to see what I'm talking about.

My buddy just converted one that sounds exactly like yours.  No you can't remove the freezer becuase it is providing the coolant for the entire fridge.  I've heard that you can't use these, but my buddy just bent the whole freezer coil down so that it hangs down in the back.  I think as long as you keep the dispensing lines away from those coils you should be fine.  If they get too close they could freeze.  His freezer tray was metal so if yours has a plastic cover you may just need to remove the cover and carefully bend it down without crimping any of the coolant lines.  You should still post some pics just to see exactly what your dealing with.

Yeah, I had to do the same thing.  Carefully remove the freezer part from the screws and bend it down.  It should be fine, I haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks for the reply.  My freezer shelf is metal, so I could probably go with the bending.  Just to make sure, I will post some pics tonight to try and get more feedback.  The coolant lines in the shelf are pretty much throughout from what I remember so I am not sure how I would be able to bend it.

Ok, here are some pics:

First one of the tray:

This one of the side of the tray:

So seeing those, how exactly would I bend it?

It looks like you don't have to bend it at all.  Mine has a metal line feeding into the freezer that I had to bend.  It looks like yours is connected by some really thin wire.  Just pop the freezer part off from the screws and rest it in the back without doing any damage to the wire.

Ok, forgot to put the photo of the tube coming in from the back.

Here it is:

I was wondering where that was.  It looks like you don't have too much to work with, mine was a much longer feed.  Have you tried bending it?  It looks like you have just enough room to do it.  Here's what I'd do:  pop the freezer part off of the screws, prop something thin underneath the tube and gently push down on the freezer part.  You want to make sure you get a smooth bend, so use something that has a curved edge to bend it over.

Cool, I'm sure I can find a length of pvc pipe to put under it to bend it around, something like that.  I'll try that, if it  looks like it's going to be a no go I'll have to come up with another plan here.  Thanks for the help with this!
