Mini Keg

Hello. I am curious if you can reuse the 5L mini kegs that commercial beers like Heineken sell. If so, whats involved? I have never used a keg before. What if you have less then 5L to keg, will it still work? What supplies would I need to have a working system?

Just a guess, but if you WERE able to open it up and refill it, you could probably sanitize it and simply prime it the same way you would if you were bottling.  Of course, you'd still have to wait a couple weeks before "Tapping" par set.  I've seen these but never bought one myself, so I've never investigated using them as a fermenter or re-using them to bottle.  Sound's interesting to try...would be easier to bring your home brew to parties and such and less time bottling than in 12 oz bottles.

google it, and I think there are instructions on doing it on the web.

Certainly an interesting idea. I wouldn't mind doing one and kegging the rest when it is time. Busting out the mini keg for a special occasion and drinking it all with friends. Post back if you find some good information. I know I can get a mini keg of some Bell's brews so I'd be in it to at least try.

Here's a link to show you how much priming sugar to use and how to do it...

And here's a link with a mini keg keggorator on amazon.com

Apparently you want to be sure to only use 3 oz of priming sugar and not the 5 that usually comes with brewing kits, but other than that it seems straight forward.
