Mr. Beer (yes, again) for family Christmas gift

Got my Mr Beer for my birthday I am glad I can admit that here some of the forums I have posted on I have been laughed off.Looking foward to all the good advise Thanks

Yeah, MR. Beer can do that to you...thankfully, some people here have used it to start homebrewing themselves, so you've got some defense on your side already.....I think it will give you the core basics of brewing.  As soon as you're out of MR. Beer stuff, I would recco moving up to better equipment if you can....most certainly, read a book on brewing to learn more.  You could go with either of these two, without going wrong...."Joy of Homebrewing" by Charles Papazian, or " How to Brew" by John Palmer; the latter being available online at the same address as the title.....
