New Burner
Just got a new burner off of Ebay. a new bayou classic in the box for 25 dollars, 15 shipping, so not a bad deal.. This is the square version that 1n1m3g suggested, rated at 150,000 btu's.
for anyone not familar with this problem, if you go get a few Keggles, and then try to put them on your circular burner, you will quickly find out what we are talking about here.
Hey that's a great deal for that burner, especially on ebay. The only ones I've ever seen were way overpriced, above what Bayou Classic even sells them for. Good find!
Yea, I thought it was a good deal too, I've seen the same exact burner used on Ebay for 80 bucks.
Thanks for the information on what burner to get. my previous burner was 45,000btu's and after I got all of that hotbreak nonsense out of the way, I have been very happy with it, it could bring 13 gallons of wort to a boil in 45 minutes.
after the research I did on burners I decided that i'd go with the square classic instead of the kick a banjo. The idea of possibly going through a full tank every batch was the thing that made me go with the classic. I know it's not as powerfull, but I can wait 20 minutes for a boil, and this has more control.
Thanks again 1n1m3g
Used this burner this weekend, damn, it kicks ass. Very stirdy, and it can blow a huge flame, I got 13 gallons of wort to boil in 30 minutes. After I reached the boil, I turned it down to a simmer, just to keep the boil going.
Great hot break too, egg drop soup floating around gotta love it. This actual burner seemed very large to me, almost as if they had replaced it with a bigger one, but whatever it was it made the brewday that much better.
Thanks again 1n1m3g
