New Glass Fermenter.....

So the place I work at has this internal silent auction.  Basically people bring in the crap they don't want and donate it to the auction.  Then they put the stuff on a table with a sheet of papar.  Just write down the phone extension, and the bid..All proceeds go to some local cause or banquet..

I saw this thing, described as juice/wine dispenser...I thought it was a bit big to disppense juice..but I saw another use for it  It does have a glass lid with gasket, but it won't hold pressure, so...it'll need some work, but it looks cool, and I think it's a good capacity...I'll measure that this weekend..I'm not brewing  sad cause Midwest had a delay in my shipment, so not until next week...Just as well, I have a lot to do , including setting up the new fridge...Any guesses on what this thing should cost?......

That is truly freakin sweet, looks like it holds 5 gallons at least, just try not to break it, Ha

I would turn it into a fish tank

WTF!?!  FIsh tank?....no, no...you mean..Fermenter!  LIke maybe perfect for a farmhouse ale, just a simple cover....but no fish.

I'm going to ask my Sister to sew a cover for it......nice and thick, especially on the bottom...

fish tank

you should use it to dispense beer from.  That would look sweet pouring a glass from that.  carbonation might be a problem though, unless you can get some kind of lid for it.

Yeah, it would.....although I thought if a couple things..First, the lid.  It does have one, but it wouldn't hold pressure too long I don't think.  Second, no way to keep it cold.  Way too big for the fridge.....

I'll probably put it away until I get some way to move it...no handles means I'll probably drop the thing if I try to use it first.  I have other fermenters anyway...but still cool, and not a fish tank....

The valve on it looks like it's a little too high up to really be useful for brewing applications, it almost looks like you'd be leaving almost a full gallon or more of decent beer behind if you tried to use it.  It still looks pretty though.

Nice touch with the IC in the background btw.

Yeah, I noticed the high level of the valve.  I'll probably just siphon out of it, no big deal.....and that IC, is my old and busted IC...blew it out over the winter from water left in it, and fell off a table to become rather warped...looks nice, but it is pretty much unusable....I use a plate chiller now, which is highly superior to an IC IMO.....

You could fill it with those little swedish fish...just sayin

Ohh, I love Swedish fish.  I think it would be neat to put some woodchips in the bottom and serve a real ale out of it.  If it were me, I would fill it with yummy, gooey nacho cheese.

it would be great as a secondary,  and no need to syphon, just tilt it a little.  Pay no attention to the Nay sayers, great score rika, it it does hold 5 gallons.

YEAH YEAH YEAH...Fish tank!

I am thinking half a pound of sugar.  Two pineapples cut into chunks.  Then fill it with vodka or rum until it overflows.  Wait a week and get a grass skirt.  Then disappear from society for a week doing the hula in your living room.
