Pink ring in bucket

So after racking my last batch to keg, I did the wrong thing.  I just filled the bucket with water, and left it.  It had a lid oni it, and I just forgot about it.  It stunk like dead ass when I took the lid off to dump and clean it.  I got the smell out, but I still have this light pink ring all the way around, near where the water line was.  I have soaked in hot water and PBW, and tried tripling the amount of PBW to no avail..  I scrub and scrub, but it just won't come off.  I also have the same pink stains inside a siphon tube that was sitting in the water....

Tubing is cheap, but a replacement bucket isn't really that cheap.....  Anyone have any ideas, or should I just buy a new one?

I would buy a new one, but not a bucket.  Get yourself some glass (or stainless, of course.)

My homebrew shop sells buckets for like $12,  I've been using two 6 gallon glass carboys for the past few months,  they run about $30 each but you can often find them on craigslist.

Seriously though just $12 for a bucket,  its worth not worrying about it

Whatever it is its probably dead by now with your cleaning efforts.  I'd fill the bucket with a 10% bleach solution and see if that helps get the ring out.  Then rinse REAL well.

ditto on the bleach,

That will kill anything, and probably remove the stain as well,  I get some stains on my white plastic bucket, I don't think much of it, but when I feel like it, I use the 10% bleach solution, and they are brand new again.

+2 on Bleach

or try OxyClean.  Cheers!

So I think it's harmless...  I filled the bucket with hot water to over the pink ring, and added 2 cups of bleach.  I mixed it well, covered it and let it sit overnight.  The pink ring was still there; albeit slightly faded.  I scrubbed the hell out of it with a plastic scrubbie, but made no progress...

So I think after 3 soakings in progressively stronger PBW, 2 soakings with Simple Green, 1 soaking with 2 cups bleach, and 15 minutes of hot water rinsing...it's got to be clean.  Smells clean, no malt, no rot, no bleach...  So I'm good to go, and I'll use it again possibly next week....
