Screwy's Fermentation Chamber
I've been fermenting my ales in my home office, placing the Mr. Beer fermentation kegs on my desktop and using a window air conditioning unit to maintain 70F during the warmer months. After brewing 30 separate ale recipes and fermenting them this way I decided it was time to consider using a fermentation chamber to control the temperatures instead.
The design criteria was simple the chamber had to hold up to 4 Mr. Beer kegs, since I usually brew multiple batches on the weekend. It also had to be very well insulated since it would be cooled using frozen water bottles. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that the wood used to construct the chamber had to be cut and assembled using only a small jigsaw, a 3/8" power hand drill and a few screw drivers.

Thank you for the compliment. I plan on brewing 4 different lager beers this weekend and then filling up the chamber to try it out.
Now you'll always want a lager going. Try out a Dunkel or a Bock soon. Good luck!
You are right about that I currently have 4 new lagers fermenting away at 50F, each in it's own 2.13 gallon Mr. Beer fermentation keg...

I used 4 different types of lager yeast for fermenting the 4 styles of beer I put into the fermentation chamber. The lower 2 kegs kicked up a thick layer of krausen about 4-5 days into the fermentation while the upper right keg showed a nice krausen layer after about 10 days. The upper right keg still only has a few bubbles floating on the top, I'm going to give it another 4 days to see if the krausen layer kicks up.
I'm thinking now that for my next 4 batches I'll probably use all of the same type of lager yeast just to keep things moving along evenly.
Now that the 4 Mr.Beer kegs are done fermenting and the beer bottled I can use my fermentation chamber to lager the bottled beer at 45F for about 4 weeks.
I brewed 3 all grain Oktoberfest recipes that I am fermenting with lager yeast and I found I can put 6 Mr. Beer kegs inside the fermentation chamber at the same time.
