Support your local LHBS

Ok, after hooking up the kegerator, I needed a source to get CO2, and hey, what do you know, no one in a 20 mile radius from my house fills co2, un freakin beliveable.  I was resigned to the fact of going into boston to start the co2 exchange program.  One day I was in my LHBS picking up some malt and hops to make a quick extract, and happned to mention to him about my CO2 delima,  He told me that I can drop off my CO2 tank there, and the gas guy comes in twice a week to fill the tanks.  What a stroke of Luck, I immediatly purchased a brand new CO2 tank for 50 dollars from the beverage factory, and will probably get another one off of ebay as a backup.
So bottom line, ask your Local Home Brew supply guy for things you can't find, he can surely get it for you.

Are you sure you need to bring your own tank.  I go to a place in Billerica that is a gas supply place (part of AGA gases).  Its a swap thing.  First time in you pay a small fee for a tank then its just paying for the gas each time in.

I think you may be going to the Homebrew emporium in cambridge???  I wasn't aware that they brought your tank back to you there.  I'd just check it before you buy a new tank only to see it disappear.

Nope, it's a filling service, you do need to have your own tank, He even asked me to write my phone # on the bottom of the cylinder.  he get's his large co2 tanks filled because it's a hobby shop, and the paintball guys always stop by to fill up.  The beer guys drop their tanks off, and the welding company fills them too.  15 bucks to fill, not bad.
I remember your experience with it, and I didn't want to buy a new tank, but If I get it back, it's not that bad.  My LHBS is in Beverly, Cambridge is no where near me, Ha ha.

You don't have an AirGas near you?  I've got a few within a 20 minute drive and they fill tanks for about 15 bucks.

Oh, there is an airgas, in Woburn about 20 miles from me, didn't you read the first message, Ha ha

Hey! My father in-law was born and raised in Woburn! His dad (my wife's grampy) was the captain of the Woburn fire department back in the 50's and 60's. Sorry for the random comment but when I saw Woburn, I had to say something!

My LHBS never ceases to amaze me.  I was in getting some supplies for a large batch.  I'm making my beers for the 4th of July party, and even thought  went to Modern hombrew in Cambridge to pick up my yeasts, and German Pils base, I like to support my LHBS, because he always hooks me up.  So I picked up the 20lbs of Marris otter at my local place.
He had a floor corker for 34 bucks, I couldn't believe it. When I used to go to beer and Wine, I saw the same exact corker for 84 bucks.  I had to grab it, as I like to do Belgians for gifts on christmas, and corking them in the nice belgian bottles with the wire hood on them is a great touch.  So before you buy off the internet, check your LHBS, you might be suprised.
