Tragedy Strikes in the Kitchen...
I am sad to say that last night I was forced to part with a good friend of mine. This friend has been with me for nearly eight years and has never let me down; always there, always willing to serve if needed.
Yes, I had to say goodbye to a favorite beer mug.
I received a set of 4 mugs from a good friend for my 21st birthday, and have had many a brew from them. One member of the quartet met an early demise at the hands of a clumsy roommate. I now have no roomates.
Last night, however, was entirely my fault. Whether distraction or simple overconfidence was the cause I cannot say, but as I was drying off the mug, it slipped from the towel. Two failed attempts to grab the falling glass caused it to impact the floor at such angle and velocity that the mug stood no chance.
I am now down to two of my trusty mugs, and while this is fine if I am having a brew alone at the end of the day, it does pose a problem if I have friends over. My question is this, has anyone come across a type of beer glass/mug that they absolutely love? I would like to be able to by several, probably eight or so, to have on hand. I looked at ebay and craigslist to see if any deals could be found, but had no luck. I also looked through Target on my lunch and was disappointed in their selection. I am looking for a vessle that is neither monogrammed nor plastic.
If you have any suggestions on styles or where to obtain said conveyors or brewing excellence, I would be happy for the advice.
Thanks much!

I was in bed bath and beyond during this past years christmas shopping and I saw a box of 8-12 pint glasses. I forget the exact count. And they only cost $10 for the set! I opened the box to check the thickness and they were definitely good quality. I don't really need any more glasses but I wish I grabbed some. Kohl's also has some alright glasses. My friend picked up a set of pilsner style glasses for pretty cheap. They usually have sales for buy 1 get 1 half off too.
I buy all my glassware at the local second hand store. When they have them I can buy those giant german mhos glasses for a buck (I have 5) and normal beer mugs for 50 cents. My favorite right now is a 22 oz beer mug that someone apparently had monogrammed RAM. I'm not sure why but I find drinking from the RAM mug endlessley amusing.

That's a great idea. I was going to suggest Walmart but I will be going to some second hand stores to look for some unique beer glasses.

I have lost good vessels in much the same fashion. Always a shame.
Yard sales sometimes yield sweet mugs, steins or glasses.....maybe check some of those out.

I hate mugs. I am an imperial pint glass man myself.

My sympathies-
Here's one of my favorities. Can't say that I love these mugs, but they always seem to be in the sink, instead of the freezer. Maybe because they hold a 22oz
bottle so well, or that they have been known to bounce on a wood floor.
I don't remember where I got them, could have been a garage sale or second hand store, don't think I bought 'em new.
