What is the best beginners beer kit to get started.

Hi I am a newbie to this site, and I know with many sites I hope I am not going to tick anyone off asking this question cause I am sure I can find it somewhere's around the site throught the forums but I dont have alot of time right now to do so, so I just thought I would ask.

I was wondering what the best brew kit would be for a beginner.  I have no idea what I am doing in the act of brewing.  I was online today looking at the Mr.Beer thing then found this site and alot of people said it wasnt worth the money maybe for doing a couple of batches but thats about it.  And for me if I am going to spend the money I want something worth while to learn with so here I am asking you.  In the forums I seen where they said Mr. Beer sucked try another set up no one really said what kind of set up to use.  So I was wondering if anyone could give me a direction to go and find out where to start either with websites or brands of microbrew kits to start with.

I would prefer to start with a beginners kit if there is one out there that is of quality and is able to produce a good beer.

Thank you again for your time and hope to become a fellow brewer and be of more importance to this forum than asking over done questions like what kind of beer kit should I start with lol.

Here is a site that I use. They have a good variety and they are glad to help you. You can either call them on the phone or email them. Really nice folks and they brew. They also have a newsletter you can sign up for with monthly discounts.

Check out these sites for basic brewing kits and beginner ingredients kits.  I've had good luck with each one of these homebrew shops equipment and/or ingredients and kits.

Or if you prefer to find a homebrew store in your area, check out the Local Homebrew Store directory here at the BYO site http://byo.com/referenceguide/supplydirectory/

There's another really good LHBS directory but I can't seem to find it right now.  If I can find it again, I'll post a link for ya.

I recommend picking up a copy of Charlie Papazian's "The Complete Joy of Homebrewing" or other intro to homebrewing books if you haven't already.  I've seen a lot of beginner equipment kits that actually include this book.

I have used Midwest Supply in the past and had really great results. Their staff was very professional and answered all my questions ( email) and they had good availability and selection as well. They have beginner equipment kits as well as ingredient kits.
Try them on the web. Best of luck and welcome to the website.

This is a good mail-order business that operates out of Woburn Mass and it is where I got my starter kit and some of preliminary hardware. You can order the kit and add the type of beer you would like to make your first time out. Give it a try they always ship on time and never had anything damaged

I bought my kit at Beer Wine.  No particular reason, other than they are a 15 minute drive from me.  Also, they are usually pretty helpful for the newbies.  I've also used Midwest, but that was just for a few strainers, not a full kit.  No issues with them either......I think you'll find most of the more popular onlines brew stores all offer pretty much the same thing.  I would go with whoever is closet to you, as that would cut back on shipping costs.

Don't think you can get into this awesome hobby for no money...it takes cash to start, mainly because of equipment.  But seriously, once you start it's very hard to stop.  It's fun, educational, and you can make some good friends, and of course, some great beer!

I'll tell you, my first batch of beer was a few months ago that I bought on eBay.  It's an English Porter extract/grain kit.  The instructions were easy to follow.  I bottled the beer two weeks after I brewed it, then drank some on week 2...GREAT STUFF!  By the 3rd week it was gone!

There is currently one of these kits on ebay from the same seller, it's auction #150211057853.
