Wine Filter
I was making a wine together with my mother. I was irritated because my mother forced me to filter the wine to the fact that my wine is very clear. I even haven't seen any fragments of fruits. Should I filter it?
I wouldn't worry about filtering wine--I've made a few batches, and so far I've found if you keep racking it, you will get it to clear up pretty well. There are additives like Kwik Kleer that can help too. I've filtered beer with an undersink filter using my kegs, but it didn't clear up the beer, since the part that fogs it are extremely small and sometimes not apparent until you chill (chill haze from proteins).
In any case, you get more nutrients when you don't filter beer or wine! ![]()
Did you filter it on its way into the fermenter, or on its way into the bottles? I'm sure your wine will taste fantastic, filtering will not harm it. If you filtered it as you were bottling it, it will have less sediment in the bottom of each bottle, which could be a good thing. You can always make wine again, not filter it, and compare it to the filtered wine.
