1st Competition

Well I did it.  I entered my first competition.  I entered the Patriot Home brew contest being put on by Sam Adams.  I have been very busy since Thanksgiving, but I managed to get the brew done in time and shipped to the brewery.  Now I just wait.  I made a small 3 gal batch for the competition, and this beer turned out to be one of my favorites, and I think my best to date.  Unfortunately I have to refrain from drinking it all.  I have to keep 3 bottles just in case they need more samples.  sad  It will be tough, I have been trying to pace myself on drinking it.

congratulations! i just entered my first competition a little while back and was quite pleased at the feedback i received. i was interested in this competition as well but decided to sit this one out. gotta get a few more brews under my belt at home before i send too many out. i love the concept of the competition. hopefully we'll see your brew on tap at foxboro! good luck!

Good to hear we have a representative in the Patriot homebrew contest....I would have loved to get a brew in to that contest....inagine having your beer brewed by Sam, and then served at Gilette Stadium for a Pats game?!?!  Sick!! Sick!! Sick!!  I hope they do something like this again next year.......what style did you submit?  any special name for it yet?....

good luck!!, i wanted to get one in but didnt have anything ready.

I brewed my 1st ever lager, it is an American Pilsner, and I named it Patriot Pilsner.

Sounds good..great name too....best of luck!

Thanks!

Results!  Got my results yesterday.  They sent 2 of the score sheets (out of over 40 judges).  I did not win sad

I am having a hard time deciphering the results.  The cover sheet they sent me states my entrant number, and my score (35) and then says Place Awarded 2nd.  There is no explanation except on how to read the judges sheets.  So, I take this as a 2nd place!!!!

Congrats!

You received 35 out of a possible 50.  That's pretty good for your first entry, so rightfully; Congratulations.  The 2nd place would indicate 2nd place in your category entered.  Basically, the second best in that style.  Of course, with so many judges, I believe they take the average of all the scorers sheets to determine the winner...either way, you did well....

Is it possible to get a copy of the scorer sheet scanned and posted?  We may able to help you understand it better, as it can be a learning thingy for all....I think I lost my sheets from a comp I entered last year...
