DC, Brewskinewbski, & Quad. I'm packing tonight & shipping tomorrow.
Don't know what to call it yet. Maybe "grain samples"
I shipped fedex. they didn't even ask what was in the box. I told them to put fragile stickers on it. No questions at all.
You could say they're candles in a jar or something.
DC
KyNGmedic, Rooster, Bull, Skervy.
I will get mine out to the three of you early next week. Hope you enjoy!

Hey Quad. I mentioned I ran out of kolsch. Do you want a red irish ale as a replacement. It will be carbed by this weekend.
DC
Yeah the Irish Red will be great. I'll let you know when I'm sending them via a pm so you can let me know where to send them to and give you my address.
As for shipping them, should I get boxes somewhere and package them up before I bring them in? Where is a good spot to get these boxes? Never shipped beers before.
Box size can really impact cost of shipping so you want one that is big enough to ship the beer but has a little room for packing. You can bye boxes at Fedex. I would get the bix take it home and pack it then go back to ship it. UPS and Mail centers should have boxes to sell also.
The sam adams site suggests not to use the styrofoam peanuts. they say to put the bottle of beer in a ziplok baggie. then wrap it in bubble wrap, and pack newspapers around the beer to stablize it. That's what I did.
DC
Mine are on the way.
DC's arrived today. The one in the Sam Adams bottle was a lost cause as it leaked out in the bag. But the othe was drinking temp when it arrived so I had a beer for brunch. It tasted maltier than mine but pretty dang good.

Sorry about that. Thought I had them packed pretty good. Glad you liked the one you drank. I actually liked yours better. Anything you can remember that could be improved on? I didn't use a kolsch yeast. And I think I used a different hops.
Next time I'll send you an extra to make up for the leak. Was the bottle broke or just a loose cap?
DC
Well, I tasted my first Kolsch on Sunday.....I failed. It comes out looking like a brown ale, still has a slight sulphur smell, and just appear to be a Kolsch. It does taste alright, but I immediately thought of Sam Adams Boston lager when I tasted it. Maybe because I just had one of those a few minutes prior to the official tasting, but I don't know......I'm not happy with this brew at all to be honest. I'm still willing to give some up for everyone else, but don't get y'alls hopes very high for a great brew. Maybe it will mellow a bit, and carb a little more, but as was it wasn't very good........
I'm not real knocked out with mine. I opened a bottle at hunt camp this weekend & it was dead flat. Just poured it out. Kinda irritating, cause the amber that I brought went over real well, and I bottled it 9 days later.
DC, the cap was loose.
Only thing extra I did was put the carboy outside overnight (33 degrees) and racked to the bottling bucket when it warme enough to clear. Kind of like a mini cold crash. I used twice the amount of Kolsch yeast as well. I wanted to go with more of a "commercial" pitching rate than a "homebrewers".
Any input on mine???
