2010 BKB Spring Brew Poll - VOTE NOW!
The poll is up and running so cast your ballot! Vote Here
Hmm.. I edited one of the options and it erased my vote and it won't let me vote more than once. Oh well, my vote was for CC so just keep that in mind.
FPB, Any thoughts on an end date for the voting?
Yeah I was thinking about that. I don't think the poll has a "close poll at day X and time Y" option, which would be nice.
Sunday night? Monday night? Opinions?

so do we all just do our own recipes, or do we figure one up beforehand and everyone makes the same thing? I've never participated in one of these.....

The way it works is the newest BKB brewer (in this case, you) makes the beer and ships it to the rest that are on that brew list. Then we all grade it and comment it on the specific brew forum for that beer.
DC
Oh, man... Thats gonna cost out the wazoo to ship to everyone.... good thing I get a discount shipping ups at work... Although having the newest brewer do the beer would seem a surefire way to get less than spectacular results.
Ah but nothing beats free beer ![]()
DC's right. The new guy's gotta get crackin', he's got a lot of beer to brew. ![]()
People will propose a recipe they have or like and we'll pick one, make some changes, etc, etc. We try to brew the same recipe for the most part but sometimes people need to sub things due to availability or put their own twist on it by using an different hop to dry hop, choosing a different yeast, etc.
For example, I had been planning on a steam beer sometime this spring so I had a recipe I was working on. Still playing around with it but it looks something like this:
~1.050 OG, 40 IBUs, 7.5 SRM
11lb US 2 row
.50 lb Crystal 40
.50 lb Special Roast (or Victory, Biscuit, home toasted malt)
1 oz Northern Brewer - 60 min
1 oz Northern Brewer -15 min
Maybe another addition close to flameout
California Lager yeast 2112
Well I'm out of this one. There's no way I can ferment and secondary a cali common cool enough now. I have no real means of temp control. I've got a small house without a lot of room. I've been trying to talk the wife into letting me get some kinda of a chest freezer or 2nd fridge, but but she says "no" because really we don't have the room for it.
I guess we'll see what the summer community brew brings.
