2010 South Shore Brewoff Results

I'm pretty disappointed that my Barleywine and Imperial Stout didn't even place when they both took first in a competition a month or so ago.   On the upside, my Saison I entered just to get some feedback took 1st in the Belgian Ale category.

Not sure how that could have been? I judged the BW category myself, it was collapsed and competed with 2 17Bs, 17D,  17E, 18A, 18C, and there were 2 BWs, a 19C that I know who brewed it, he was there and we drank his extra bottle, and a 19B which we awarded 1st place to scored it a 36 & 39. Could that have been yours? It was the only other BW there?

Your saison BTW, although I did not try it, I do remember the comments during the BOS, that everyone loved it, they just ruled it out as not being a top 5 beer, so they kicked it.

Marc, I just called the comp organizer, (he is actually on the T going to Fenway- lucky bastard!) and he said there were issues with the software during the whole thing. He remembers the BW being on the BOS table, so he knows we gave it a first, when he gets back he is going to go through the hard copies of the results and make the adjustments. If you do not see any changes on the site, just know that the actual placing is noted, so if you do not get a ribbon with your scoresheet- remind me and I will call him again. Otherwise I think it should be all set.

Congratulations on two 1sts!!!

Yeah I entered the 19B.

Thanks for looking out and running damage control!

[/cough,cough] So... about that RIS not placing... anything you can do about that?  wink

No, you got thumped. The American stout that took 1st was awesome! It was super chocolaty, a nice balance of bitterness, and just really smooth. That took 2nd BOS, great beer. I didnt judge stouts, so I dont know how yours was. I just like to taste all the BOS beers.

I'm sure it did alright but there were just better beers entered.   I should have entered my Oatmeal Stout too but I didn't think it was ready yet.

Holy crap I got second place!!!!! Cat.20 fruit beer.

This is my first contest I'm stoked!!!

Congrats man! You cant win if you dont enter!

Good job man!

What kind of fruit beer did you enter?

Thanks man. The category confused me a little but it was fruit beer and spice/herb/vegetable beer.

My entry was a holiday ale with spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, etc.)

way to go.  2nd place is good for your first contest.  maybe next year you can get 1st.
